#7 of Changing Seasons
Guest star: My closest friend as Selena Light
I'm very sorry for the bad things I've done to you. I hope you could forgive me even when our distance is great.
GOODBYE
13 March
The Lightwood Police Department officers are currently busy with an awkward case that has appeared in different areas of the city. Two female officers walked down the hall towards their current chief's office. Their navy blue uniform were neat and their ID card hangs neatly over the left side of their chest.
"Well, I could say that the thief has some cravings over sweets," the brunette officer talked with her partner.
"Tell me about it," the blonde partner replied. "That candy store was totally ransacked. What kind of a thief would steal candies?"
"Um... hungry ones?" the brunette chuckled.
"Then he or she should go to the nearest market and rob that place clean," the blonde laughed as she knocked the office door. Behind the silver desk sits a young man in a gray suit. His silver eyes stared blankly at the pile of paper as he continues to file and stamp them. He let out a soft sigh as his mind continues to wander around, not noticing the ladies' entering his office.
"Hey Louis," the brunette officer called. Louis yelled and jumped back as he was really surprised by their presence. His office chair leaned back too far and he crashed to the ground, making a loud crash on the floor. The two officers rushed quickly to aid their chief.
"Louis! Are you alright?" the blonde officer asked.
"Y-yeah," Louis replied as he blushed and rubbed the back of his head. "Thanks."
"Are you feeling okay?" the brunette stared at him with her brown eyes. "You've been kinda spaced out lately."
"I'm fine Linda," Louis gave her an assuring smile.
"Are you sure?" Linda's partner, Janet, asked as she picked up the four-legged chair. " I can tell that you're lying to us."
"It's nothing. Really. But thanks for worrying me you two."
"No it's not," Linda stopped the college student. "I think it's a major problem. It's about you and Selena, isn't it?"
Louis immediately felt his stomach churning as he heard the name.
"H-how'd..."
"We know?" Janet smiled as she sat down at one of the guest seats in front of his desk. "You've been acting really weird ever since you went on a date with her that Valentine's day."
Louis sighed deeply and stared at the ground. "I-I really don't wanna talk about it..."
"Tell you what, chief," Linda smiled as she took out her cell phone. "Why don't you take a few days off? It'll keep your mind out of it. I'll call Lionel to pick you up right away."
"B-but my work..."
"Don't worry about it," Janet leaned forward and ruffled his silver hair. "We'll take care of it."
"Well, if you say so..." Louis smiled shyly at the two colleagues.
Lionel slowly drove towards the next corner and pulled the van into a halt. Louis was standing patiently in front of the law enforcers' building. Lionel smiled and honked the car twice to grab his cousin's attention. Louis turned his head and smiled softly. He walked towards the silver ride and entered the passenger's seat.
"Hey," Lionel smiled. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Why would you ask that?" Louis smiled back as he straps on his seatbelt.
"Linda told me that you've been spacing out at work," Lionel said as he started to drive his car once more. "And lately, you've been trying to avoid conversations with me and Alex."
"Sorry," Louis sighed.
"And, if I remember correctly, your magic training with Alex was given to Joy."
"John," Louis quickly corrected him. "He'll throw you a pan if you call him that."
"Really?" Lionel raised eyebrow. "Isn't that a little violent?"
"Well, he's a guy. Would you hate it if you're called by a girl's name?"
"I know I would," Lionel grumbled.
"Why would anyone wanna change his name into a girl's?"
"For fun, maybe?" Lionel chuckled.
"Well, not for him," Louis joined in the laugh.
"It's good to see you smiling again," Lionel smiled happily.
"Really?"
"Well, yeah. I mean, ever since that date with Selena..." Lionel immediately stopped speaking any further as he noticed Louis' change of expression. "I shouldn't have said that, should I?"
"No..." Louis sighed.
"Can you at least tell me what happened back there?" he sighed.
"I really don't wanna talk about it..."
"You will, and I'm gonna make you," Lionel raised his voice, shocking Louis for a moment. "If you don't tell me about it, then there's nothing I could do to help you get over it."
"Fine..." Louis sighed once more. "Park the car first. I don't wanna crash into anything."
Lionel quickly went to the nearest avalible parking lot and parked his vehicle. He placed the car on park and pulled the hand brakes up.
"Start," he ordered.
"Well..." Louis looked down on his lap. "That evening..."
14 February
"I'm the wolf..."
Selena stared at the wolf as he continues to spill his secrets.
"I'm the same wolf at the wedding party yesterday. It was me who became the best man. And it was me who was drenched with a bowl of punch. I'm also the one who growled at everyone before leaving the party."
The wolf slowly looked up towards the female. Her eyes contained shock, fear, and anger. He slowly lifted his paw towards her, but she quickly backed away, as if she was trying to avoid him. It wasn't a very good sign for him. The silver furred wolf sighed heavily and folded back his ears.
'I knew this would happen...' he thought to himself.
"I'm... really sorry," he spoke up once more. "I never thought that you hated me that much. I'll... give you some space then..."
He slowly turned away and wore the hood back on.
"Goodbye..." he slowly said as he walked away from the one friend he cared for.
"And that is pretty much what happened back there..." Louis sighed. Lionel tapped his hand on the steering wheel, trying to make sense of the story.
"What am I gonna do..." Louis sighed deeply. "She hates me. I knew I shouldn't have told her about me."
"Well, I ,for one, don't think so," Lionel told him. "In my opinion, she took it the wrong way just like you."
"What do you mean?"
"For starters, she said all those things about you without really knowing the whole truth. That's why she's scared that you won't forgive her. And you're scared because you thought she won't accept the other you after you growled at her. Accidentally, of course."
"Then... what should I do?" Louis looked at him with teary eyes.
"Well, if I were you, I would try and clear out this misunderstanding. Try and apologize and set the whole story straight."
"I'll try..." Louis said as he picked up his cell phone. "Wait. I don't know where she stayed at."
"Really!? Damn..." Lionel grumbled as he took out his own cell.
"What's wrong?"
"From the stories I heard, she's leaving tomorrow."
"What!?"
"Relax," Lionel smiled. "I'll find more info from the others."
"Thanks Lionel," Louis smiled as he cuddled his cousin. Lionle jumped slightly at the sudden act of affection.
"Alright, before I start calling someone, can you explain to me about this?"
"About what?"
"The hugs, the sudden cheerfulness, and the 'I love you' back in New Years. You've never been like this before."
"Oh... That thing," Louis pulled back.
"Care to explain?"
"To be perfectly honest... I envy you. You're smart, funny, sociable... You practically made friends with everyone without a care in the world. You also have a caring mother that takes care of you.
"Meanwhile, I don't have as many friends as you do, My parents were murdered in front of my eyes when I was young, and almost every time, I became a target to people because of my difference. I even had a time when I hated you..."
"Louis..."
"But still, you cared for me. You ignored all of those people and hang out with me. You even placed yourself in danger just for me. You could've a perfect life with others, but you threw it away just for me."
"Well, you're my only cousin," Lionel smiled. "Of course I care for you."
"That's why... I'm really happy because of you."
Louis quickly embraced the older person and smiled happily.
"Thank you... for everything..."
"Aw... Don't mention it," Lionel rubbed his silver hair. "Now could you let go? I'm beginning to feel a little awkward."
"Sorry," Louis blushed as he let go. Lionel smiled and started to call from one person to another, trying to locate Selena's wherabouts. Louis patiently waits by watching the view outside of the car window. He smiled softly, happy that he has said all that to Lionel. Finally, after dozens of phone calls, Lionel finally closed his cell.
"Damn..." he grumbled.
"That can't be a good sign..." Louis looked at him. "Is something wrong?"
"Three things," Lionel said. "One, Selena stayed at a motel close by, but she'd already checked out. Two, Dianne said that she's going to leave tomorrow from White International Airport at three tomorrow. Three, my cellphone's dead and I can't call for any more infos."
Louis quickly checked the battery life span of his own cell phone. His battery is in the red zone like Lionel's.
"Mine too," he sighed as he closed the device. "What a bad day to bring an uncharged cell phone."
"Got any ideas on what to do next?"
"Hmm..."
Louis continue to look here and there down the crowded streets. His head stopped towards one store and his smile began to show.
"Lionel, I probably have an idea," he said.
"What's that?"
"A little shopping spree," he smiled as he went out the small van.
"A little what?" Lionel raised an eyebrow as his cousin closed the door and ran towards the crowded shopping district close by.
