Costume parties are fun, especially for Doug, who dresses up like Duuz Delax Rex from Outlaw Star and Warren, who dresses up like Wargreymon. But they didn't expect something very peculiar to happen on Halloween night!

"Clean Fun"

It was Halloween night. A cold front had come through, partially obscuring the moonlight overhead; the nearly-full moon was hidden halfway through the clouds as I walked down the dark streets. Glancing around, I could see kids with their parents bouncing excitedly from door to door, but for once I had plans on Halloween night. A party hosted by a good buddy of mine that I was invited to only a few days ago. I knew my costume would blow everyone away; I was going as Duuz Delax Rex from Outlaw Star, a really underrated character, it had taken me all week to make the costume for it and I was glad there was no snow that could ruin the outfit tonight. The lining of my dark green vest brushed up against my neck as the wind gusted around me, it was warmer than I'd expected even with no sleeves. My black short sleeved shirt was complimented by the pale green "scale" shirt I wore under it with the dragon-clawed gloves I'd made. The sword on my right hip knocked against me with every step, but it only made me pick up the pace. My forehead was sweating under the mask as I looked up to the sky again, taking in how eerily mystifying it was. The dragon-styled contacts I was wearing weren't helping matters mutch as my eyes were beginning to itch from them constantly being shaken around by the strong blasts of wind to my face. I knew I needed to get to Warren's house quick.

I turned up the path that led to

Mog Street, where the party was supposed to take place. I could hear the thumping of music already from here. It didn't bode very well, I couldn't stand people driving themselves deaf from the volumes they played. It was alright though, I only planned to stay for an hour or two anyway. As I passed the shelter of a bus stop I stopped to examine my costume, I polished the belt and looked at my mask. It only took up about half of my face, leaving my mouth somewhat visible under the overhanging snout of my dragon mask. I'd customized it as best as I could, but I thought that the contacts depicting red eyes were probably the best touch.

I felt dizzy as I approached the address on my invitation. I checked it a few times just to be sure that it was right;

669 Mog Street. The walkway was a cobblestone that had varying shades of gray right up to the doorstep which was a brick pad with a few feet of space between the house wall and the end of the step. There was a couple making out on a bench near the door, but I paid them no mind and knocked loudly. I waited a few seconds before I pressed the bell, which rang out through the house and was immediately soaked into the sounds of the music inside. Maybe it was the pale-oak color of the front door or the soft white exterior paint of the house, but the longer I stood there the more uneasy I felt.

Finally the door opened and Warren stood in the doorway; he was covered in orange body paint with a full face mask of Wargreymon. I often admired that he was a child at heart, but going as an unmasked version of the Digimon was a stroke of genius. Shoulder-length red hair spiked out of the top of his mask and I wondered it if was a wig or it was his actual hair dyed into this shocking blood-red color. My eyes widened.

"Warren? Dude that looks amazing!" I said.

Warren crossed his arms over his chest, his natural musculature a perfect match. "Thanks man." He said with a chuckle. "Duuz Rex right? Gotta love a little Outlaw Star." He admitted before taking a step back to let me in the house. "Really unique choice." He added as he patted me on the back.

The party was almost chaotic inside with people standing around in groups, almost half of them hadn't really put any thought into their costumes or didn't even try to dress up while others' outfits varied from Shaggy to Fred Flintstone and Stitch. I tried to make myself feel more comfortable now that I'd arrived, but I was still feeling a little dizzy.

"Hey, do you have some Ibuprofen or something?" I asked.

"What?!" Warren shouted over the music.

"I sa-said do you have anything for a headache?" I repeated. "I'm not feeling too well."

"You're not feeling well?" He repeated again, leaning his head in closer to me. "Check the upstairs bathroom man. I'm sure we got something."

I nodded and headed for the stairs; they were a half-spiral staircase with shag capreting on each step. I hadn't bothered taking my shoes off at the door, because my pathetic human feet under them would ruin the illusion. As I made my way up the steps though, they did feel a little itchy. I reached the top of the landing just as a couple made their way out of the bathroom, but something told me they weren't using it the way it was intended; their lovey-dovey embrace made me blush. I'd never had a girlfriend, I never showed much interest in it. As I walked into the bathroom, I was hit with another hard wave of dizziness. It wasn't enough to cause any nausea or anything, but it definitely made me stumble some.

The bathroom was huge; there were several directional mirrors along the back wall along with a beautiful tiled shower that looked like it was set up for a waterfall effect in its fixtures. It smelled like flowers, but I noticed that was coming in from the plug-in air freshener near the toilet. As I approached the sink I caught my reflection in the mirror and what I saw confused me for just a moment, the adhesive felt a little itchy and I could no longer see the seam between my mask and my face. I ran my fingers along the skin and noticed that the green had somehow moved down a little bit further than I remembered painting to cover the mask seam. As I pushed my fingers against it, I couldn't see the folds move up and I swore that the green skin seemed to be moving.

"That's weird." I said to myself as I continued to search. "This paint's not supposed to run--" I reached to open the cabinet and remembered my gloves would probably be a little clumsy as I grabbed the bottle of aspirin on the shelf and fumbled it into the sink. I tugged at the glove on my right hand and it didn't budge. "Ow!" I exclaimed, suddenly feeling like the glove was attached to my hand. It felt like I was actually pulling on my own extension. As I pulled my hand back to look at it, I saw that the fingers were working and I was able to wiggle them like they were my own. "What the fuck?" I took a step back and turned, sweeping my tail across the counter and sending its contents flying to the floor. I reached my arms behind me and felt my shirt tear a bit as my chest puffed out further than I expected. "What's going on!?" I grabbed at the tail that should have been attached to my belt; but it wasn't... somehow my belt was now underneath my tail, which swept over the top of my pants.

My heart was beginning to race now as I felt a shock of pain burning along my face. "Ahhh!" I screamed and fell to my knees, grabbing my head. Everything was burning now as I lunged onto my hands and knees, feeling a xylophone effect across my spine. My eyes welling up with tears; it wasn't some physical pain like the feeling of someone punching me but it was definitely scary and the pain kept on hitting me from within at the most unexpected of places.

"Just relax; let it happen." I heard Warren's voice as I looked up at him standing in the doorway. "They like an easy transition too..."

"Wh-what's?" I began to say before feeling a retching pull in my stomach. "He-help me!"

"It's a natural feeling around here--" Warren sounded strange all of a sudden as he lumbered in, and with a huff, nearly collapsed against the shower stall, catching himself before falling into it.

Despite my pain I focused on him, his body suddenly lurched up and his shoulders exploded outwards, a new ripple of musculature forming along his body, making his arms bigger, but he seemed to handle it a lot better than I was handling it. He turned to me and I nearly recoiled at the sight of his face now contorting unnaturally to the shape of a muzzle. The visible parts of his mask disappearing, forming themselves to Wargreymon's actual features; not a costume, not anymore. He howled in pain and threw his head back as I watched a sudden growth spurt before my very eyes. "What--what's happening?" I spoke, but my voice had deepened to the point I couldn't even recognize it. My body was convulsing involuntarily now as Warren was snarling, culminating into a feral roar, his clothes shredding off like mine with the sheer expansion of muscle and height that exceeded any human size. "W-War--War---"
