Changing Seasons: Valentine 2010 (1/2)
#5 of Changing Seasons
Before we begin, I just wanted to say how happy I am to write this piece for all of you. This season really brought my memories back. I really missed the old days. She was the closest friend I've ever had, but now she's gone...(see Inside my Mind 1). I remember the times I gave her chocolates for every valentine. I missed her smile alot. If time and fate allows us, I want our reunion to be a little like this (minus the beginning and the ending). May she be happy wherever she is with her boyfriend. These pair of stories is dedicated to you...
Guest starring: My closest friend as Selena Light
MARRIAGE PROBLEMS
13 February
"Hey Louis, what do you think of this?" a young man called. The silver furred walked over to his bedroom and gazed at his friend's appearance. He was wearing a full white tux, with a crooked white bowtie on his neck. The man is very nervous. After all, it's his wedding day.
"You look fine, Matt," Louis smiled. "Just, let me help with the bowtie."
He stepped up and adjusted the small accesory.
"Say, have your wounds healed up?" Matt smiled.
"Look at me," Louis chuckled. "I'm still a wolf, aren't I?"
"Oh yeah," Matt chuckled. "I guess after a month seeing you like this, I got used to it. Is it that bad?"
"Oh, much worse than you thought," Louis replied with a sigh. "I broke all of my ribs on my right side, lost a quarter of my blood, damaged the majority of my internal organs, comatosed for, how long is it? A week?"
"Two."
"And I have major internal bleeding. But the worst part is..."
"What?" Matt gulped.
"My sword's all banged up."
"T-that's it?" Matt stammered. Louis just sighed and nodded. His ears folded back. Matt burst out with laughter while the wolf jumped back, surprised of the reaction.
"What?" Louis started to blush. The redness on his cheeks showed beneath his fur.
"Sorry," Matt held back his laughter. "It's just-it's just that I thought you're in a way worse condition."
"Well, you don't need to be that worried," Louis sighed as he straightens out his friend's clothing. "My life isn't in any danger."
"By the way, why didn't James heal you up?"
"He went back to his hometown for New Years and the Chinese one. He's meeting up with his twin sister until next week."
"I see..." Matt frowned. Louis noticed the sudden change and looked up.
"What's wrong?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I was kind of hoping you could be at the wedding ceremony," Matt sighed.
"Of course I'd be there!" Louis smiled. "I did promise to be your best man, didn't I?"
"Yeah, but that was before that incident! You know you can't turn back to normal until you properly heal!"
"So what, big deal. As long as you're happy, I am!"
"Thanks, Lou..."
Louis flinched when he heard the nickname. "Lou?"
"You don't like me to call you that?" Matt frowned.
"N-no!" Louis shook his head. "It's just, I've never been called by that name before."
"Not even your parents?" Louis shook his head again.
"Please," Louis sighed. "don't remind me about them. This is your wedding day. Let's try and be happy once in a while."
"Alright..." Matt sighed. The both of them became uncomfortable. Matt, not wanting the silence, thought of another topic.
"Say, umm... Where's Lionel and Alex? I thought we're going there together."
"They said they went ahead," Louis straightened the last creases. "Kelly wanted them to make sure the area's safe."
"From fiends?"
"Yeah, they'll appear out of nowhere, so they went ahead just to make sure."
"If you say so..." Matt mumbled.
"Come on! Cheer up!" Louis yelled and patted his back. "Don't act like this! Kelly's gonna worry sick about you if you continue!"
"You're right..." Matt smiled softly.
"Do you mind me changing in front of you?" Louis chuckled.
"Go ahead," Matt replied. "We've seen each other change for gym, right?"
"Yeah, but not in this form," Louis smiled back. Slowly, he took of his T-shirt, revealing his slender physique. His muscles was toned and showing under the silver fur. Louis took out one of his white tux and wore it. He changed his jeans into the tux's pair. He then slowly rummaged through the wardrobe, looking for the tux's matching tie. When he found the perfect one, he wore it and glanced himself at the mirror.
"I knew it..." Louis grumbled.
"What?"
"I knew I should've made a hole for a tail here..." he pointed to a space on the back of the tux. "Gimme three minutes, okay?" Louis quickly dashed towards the side table and retrieved a small white box. He opened it and revealed a complete sewing set with different colors of square fabrics. He quickly took the scissors and cut a hole big enough for his tail. He took the same colored fabric and sewed the bottom part below it. He sewed a button above the hole and made a smaller hole on the fabric. He wore the pants once more and glanced himself at the mirror.
"Better..." he smiled. "Come on! We gotta get going!"
"Hold on..." Matt stopped. "Something's missing..."
"Oh, right!" Louis quickly grabbed a white rose from his pot and placed it on Matt's left chest.
"Now you're ready," Louis smiled. "Now let's go!"
He pulled Matt towards the blue jeep waiting near the apartment. They drove their way towards the wedding grounds. When they arrived, Matt quickly dashed towards Lionel who was waiting for him. The blonde was still in his human form, wearing a white tux and tie.
"Hey! We've been waiting for you!" the blonde man smiled.
"Sorry," Matt smiled. "I had to pick up another friend of mine."
"Who?"
Moments later, Louis exited the jeep and locked all the doors. He walked over to Matt and handed him the keys. Lionel jumped back when he saw the wolf.
"Thanks," Matt smiled.
"Wait! Louis!?" Lionel yelled. "What are you doing here?"
"Well," Louis smiled, "I'm his best man, remember?"
"What about your form?"
"Don't worry about it! I'm sure they won't mind." Louis chuckled.
"Well, if you say so..."
"Come on guys," Matt interrupted. "I don't wanna be late for my wedding!"
"Says the guy who took a long time rummaging my wardrobe," Louis chuckled. Lionel just shook his head as he followed them.
'He's changed,' Lionel thought. He smiled at his cousin softly.
The ceremony followed afterwards. The crowd's attention never averted from the stage, where the new couple stood, hand in hand, together forever. But the wolf standing behind Matt stood out most of the events. Everyone's attention always switched between the couple and the wolf. Louis' ears gave him extra sensitivity. They heard some people whispered about him. But he never paid any attention to them. All he did was enjoy his new friends' wedding and hoped they'll live a long and peaceful life.
After the ceremony ended, the couples went over to Louis who was talking with Lionel and Alex. Louis heard their footsteps and looked over.
"Hey, thanks for being my best man," Matt greeted him.
"No prob, but I think I drew too much of the attention," Louis chuckled.
"Of course you did," Kelly poked the top of his muzzle. "I think because you're still like that, people don't even notice us when we exchanged vows."
"I'll make it up to you! I promise!" Louis folded his ears back.
"You'd better! I don't want everyone to just remember the wolf! I want them to remember about us!"
"Okay! Enough with the guilt trip!"
The group laughed and chatted some other topics.
"Well, I gotta get going," Lionel smiled.
"Awww, already?" Kelly whined.
"I have to go to work. Plus, I gotta take this kid here to bed already." Lionel looked over his shoulder to the 8-year-old sleeping on the chair behind him. The young boy snored silently due to his exhaustion on the wedding ceremony. The group smiled as Lionel picked the kid up.
"He's a heavy sleeper," Lionel chuckled.
"Why don't you let him sleep at your house?" Louis asked. "I won't be home anytime soon anyways."
"Okay, see you guys later." Lionel smiled as he walked off. The rest of the group waved goodbye.
"Well, it's a good thing he guarded the place," Kelly smiled. "He said the fiends that infested the area has been completly eliminated."
"He's always focus on his work," Louis told them.
"That's great," Matt smiled. "But enough with the fiend business. Ready to dine in?"
"Of course," Louis smiled. The three of them walked over to the buffet table and grabbed some food. They chatted for quite some time until Dianne walked over.
"Hey guys!" she cuddled the new couples one at a time. "Congratulations!"
"Thanks," Kelly smiled back. "You remember him, right?" Kelly gestured towards the silver wolf.
"How could I forget..." she smiled softly. "Thank goodness you're still alive! I haven't seen you since that day."
"Well, I can't go on public like this all the time," Louis smiled back. "And I still have to heal my wounds too."
"Well, we'll leave you two to chat, okay?" Kelly smiled as she and Matt left the two alone. Louis and Dianne started to chat and share about their pasts, including the horrible incidents with the Fiends. After half an hour, Dianne left Louis to talk and hang out with her friends, leaving him alone in the party again. Louis smiled as he looked around the party. Everyone now has forgotten that he's actually in an anthro-wolf form. He took another glance around and stopped his head in one specific direction. His muzzle opened softly as he examined what he saw.
It was a young woman like any other party members. Her long brown hair was curled a little on her back. Her brown eyes shone under the sunlight as she gazed upon her friends. Her white dress and high heels matches the tone of her skin. There was no mistake. It's her...
"Selena..."Louis muttered under his breath. He snapped back into reality when he felt a large amount of cold liquid pouring over his body. His fur and tux was completely covered in red fruit punch. He turned around to see three men celebrating their success on pouring the refreshment over him. He growled loudly, showing his teeth and claws to them. Everyone was startled and stepped back from him. Louis took a look around and saw fear in their eyes. What stopped him from snarling was the look on Selena's face. She stepped back from the wolf as he continued to gaze her. His face quickly changed from anger to sorrow.
"I-I'm sorry," he stammered. "I'm just gonna leave now." With that, he left the celebration and ran back to his apartment. The party continued in an awkward tone as they questioned about the wolf's behavior.
Louis finally arrived back to his apartment. He sighed deeply as he regreted his last action. He took off all his clothes and squeezed it until the punch was no longer dripping. He slowly went in the running shower and took the shampoo bottle near him. He gently scrubbed them all over his body as he continue to gaze the drainage hole. Pink liquid are starting to go down that drain.
"How did it come to this..." he sighed deeply. The one chance to finally talk to her, gone in an instant. Thanks to the complete jerks who drenched him with the punch bowl. As he rinsed his fur, he took a quick whiff on his scent. There are still traces of punch left. He took the shampoo again and contiuned to shower until he no longer smelled like a refreshment. He stepped out and dried himself with the towel hanging next to him. He walked over to his room and changed into a white t-shirt and brown slacks. He jumped back, landing on the queen sized mattress behind him. He continued to gaze to the white celing as time slowly fly by. As he turn away from the door, the phone rang loudly. He groaned slightly as he reached up towards the rackety noise. He picked up the phone and sat up.
"Hello?" he said.
"Hello? Is this Louis?" a female's voice answered him. Louis' ears perked up as he recognized the voice.
"Selena?" he jumped up.
"Hi Louis! How's it going?" the woman responded.
"Terrible," he groaned. "I'm completly exhausted right now."
"Well, how about you and I go to the amusement park tomorrow? You know, for a little refresment."
"Yeah, that's sounds great," Louis smiled happily. His tail is wagging really fast.
"Great! Let's meet up at our usual hangout cafe at 7:30!"
"Okay! See you then! Bye!" the both of them hung up at the same time. Louis laid back and sighed happily. A smile crept up in his muzzle. After what seemed like a minute, he remembered that he's still in his wolf form. That smile suddenly disappeared.
"Oh no..." he frowned. He quickly jumped inside his closet, hoping he had some clothes to conceal his form.
And not ruining his date.
