Terveta-Chapter 6: Questions (Part 8)
The creature stood over her, grinning victoriously. Blizzard felt so helpless--there was no way he was going to let it finish off his loyal Beta. He began to yell and roar insults to the beast in hopes to pull its attention away from the easy kill. It let out a snarl and turned its vision back to him giving its jaws a snap at him. It worked and it fully turned around to start after him at a brisk jog.
Seth crouched down in the brush and glared powerfully a long distance away. He coiled his legs like taut bands and then released. He sprinted over the ground like a blur, intending on tackling the hostile before it could get its claws on his Alpha.
When the leopard got close enough, he lifted his body and brought his arms out to grapple, but then something happened that he hadn't expected: The creature took a quick hop backwards at the last second and brought its arm up. He couldn't react fast enough and his neck crashed right into the out stretched limb. He back flipped through the air several times and lay on the ground unmoving almost a hundred meters away.
The hostile barked a laugh and then crouched down to finish the Alpha off. He was ready; even though he was out of energy to use he wasn't going to give up. His legs still worked and so did his jaw--he promised himself to draw blood.
Vace groggily got up to his feet and stared at the hostile, as it got closer to his leader and best friend. His eyes widened and he got to his feet, ready to attack, but his legs gave out and he dropped to his knees.
An expression of helplessness rushed over him and the feeling of letting his alpha down drew over. Blizzard locked eyes with the Gamma and gave a reassuring smile to say it was okay. The hostile let out a rumbling growl, yanking his vision back to where the beast was just meters away. He crouched and got ready to meet its lunge but then something suddenly moved in front of him. A lupine female that was just a few inches shorter then he was. Keisha.
He stared down at his mate in astonishment.
"Close your eyes." she growled. Her tone was so threatening he immediately obeyed and his eyes clamped shut.
A bright aura formed around her body that just continued to grow more and more brilliant. Blizzard could feel the extreme amount of energy that was rising from her body, how much she held within.
The hostile charged at her with all its might, its claws outstretched, aimed for her head, its mouth wide open. It was then that she released her amount of power. It was too fast for any eyes to see or catch. A beam of light erupted from her body in a concentrated straight of energy right for the hostile.
Trillions of joules of power in every inch of the laser illuminated the area as it swiped upward at an angle. Then, suddenly, the light was gone from her body, dissipating in the last of the beam that was sent out. The blue husky could feel the light fade away and so he opened his eyes.
The hostile lay just feet away, its body was diagonally cut in two pieces and leaking blood into the soil. The long fight was ended in less then a second.
Keisha stared down at the monster and then turned to face her mate. Tears were running down her face when she saw how close it came, what could have happened. She gently wrapped her arms around his torso, weaving them under his broken appendages to embrace him with all her might. She uttered no words; she didn't have to for he knew what she was thinking about.
"My babies!" came an anguished cry from behind.
Blizzard turned his tired gaze to watch Dean rush over to the machine that had its head almost knocked off. He dropped to his knees and embraced the large metallic body, actually crying. He started to mumble to it, as if to reassure everything was going to be okay, but the husky knew better. He dropped his eyes down to his mate and buried his muzzle into the top of her head. No. Nothing was going to be all right.
