First off I don't own any chars on the Digimon Series or any other nicknames that included in this chapter. However I do own the char called Al, Sarah, and Soul the Minomon. I apologize first hand if there are spelling and grammar errors since English is my second language. And again just a precaution if this is put on-hold I inform that it contain more than 50% fur since it is Digimon. Anything else, please enjoy.

Chapter 23: Welcoming Party - Part 1

It's almost a week since the last Glitch incident occurred in the game. The Destinies team consists of Al, Jake and another member was searching from one field to another for any anomalies or at least abnormality in that field. By now, their levels were at least 20 and the last member was random.

Al, Jake and Patamon are teaming up at the area called Palette Amazon where the fields are similar to a wet land beach except it's full of deep puddle of water. The only way to cross from one place to another is by finding the rock formation path like a bridge just like in the Sunken Tunnel. The area itself contain mostly Avian type Digimon while other types didn't stand out too much. The other types are draconic, aquatic, beast, insect, and holy. So far the three of them only seen the avian, draconic and aquatic type Digimon and the levels were greater than Al and Jake so they rely on their champion form and Patamon too much.

After raising enough levels, they all have a rest on the dry surface. Jake aka ShadowWolf began the conversation. "Man that was intense."

"Yeah, I never thought we'll be venturing to a higher level than us." Al replied at ShadowWolf, and then looked at Patamon. "Thanks for all your help, Patamon. We couldn't have survived without you."

Patamon smiled to Al gratefully. "It's nothing really. I'm glad we can venture out like this and getting to know you guys."

"You know. You are really strong, fighting against champion type with only rookie form while we are in champion form." Jake commented Patamon's strength.

Patamon looked at both Al's and Jake's form. Jake was in form of a large black wolf with white stripes. Al is in form of an orange tyrannosaur with white stripes, and a large stomach wearing a horned skull helmet. He looked at himself that he is just a guinea pig with bat wing that matches his orange fur skin. "I never realize my own strength." Patamon laughs at himself.

Al sighed. "Let me guess... it's got something to do with evolutions, correct?"

Patamon nodded and Jake is quite confused by Al's answer. "What do you mean?"

"Long explanation short: As long as you keep on evolving and de-evolving, our status will gradually increase." Al explained the short version that Biyomon told him a couple of days ago.

"This, I've got to try." Jake stated himself with a grin.

Al looked at his status and his level is already at maximum, even he is in level 27. "I guess we could try it out when we get back to the city. You know what happened after we change form."

Jake looked at his own status and his level also at maximum. "Yeah, our level will be reset."

"But look on the bright side, our status will slightly reduce and our limit will increase."

"Let's go back to the city. We need to stash in our loot and browse some store for some decent equipment." Al suggested. Jake and Patamon nodded in agreement.

The team was wandering around looking for a portal for about five minutes. When they found one, Al told Jake to go on a head first because there is something he wanted to ask to Patamon. Jake nodded and teleported away. Patamon asked. "Is there something you want to talk about?"

"Actually, it's a little bit personal. It's about Renamon, Gatomon and you." Al answered with discomfort.

"What about us?" Patamon asked in confused.

"You knew about how I met Gatomon for the first time. Let's just say I had a crush on her after accepting Digimon existence. After hearing that you are his boyfriend, I got sunk. And what I wanted to asked is how you met her in the first place."

Patamon was surprised and rather defensive about Al's confession. After hearing Al's sad voice, he loosens up a bit. "She was our enemy the first time we met. She was Myotismon's underling back then. But she finally realized that she is one of us and Kari is her partner. I became her boyfriend because she and I were the same type." Patamon answered the last part with bashful.

"Same type?" Al asked in confusion.

"As you remember, both of us were angels." Patamon explained.

"Angels... That's when you're in Champion form and she's in ultimate form." Al argued about that explanation. "Both your levels are way too different."

"At least we are the same and been together for a long time." He replied in defensive.

"You're right. You two know each other for a long time. That is why I sunk." Al answered in defeat.

"You have my sympathy, Al." Patamon replied in a sad tone. "What about Renamon?"

"I think I'm gonna pass that one too."

"Why?"

"Before I knew that Gatomon had a boyfriend, I had a conflict between her and Renamon. I also had a crush on her as well because she is the first one ever kissed me even though it's only on the cheek."

"She kissed you?" Patamon asked in disbelief.

"Is it a taboo?" Al asked in sarcastic tone yet confused by Patamon's reaction.

"No, it's just I don't believe it. She and her tamer were used to be called Ice Queen because of her cold expression and attitude. And she still does that up till now."

Al shivered a little by Patamon's reaction. "I got that as well. Come to think of it, I saw her laughing even a smile for the first time on her cold face."

"Seeing all of those in one day, you sure are a lucky for a human."

"And I guess she is already taken as well." Al was getting more depress.

"Come on, don't be sad about it. There will be a time when you find a perfect womon to be your companion. Heck I've never seen Renamon with someone yet, so maybe you should asked her." Patamon tried to cheer him up.

"I guess you are right. Let's go, we made him wait long enough." Al's sprit lifted up a little and walked to the portal followed up with Patamon.

Jake was waiting at the front portal and he is waiting in his rookie form. By the time Al and Patamon arrived, Jake greeted them with angry tone. "Took you guys long enough, where have you been?"

Al smiled at Jake and transformed back to his rookie form. "Sorry, ShadowWolf. Patamon and I had a little talked about girl problem."

Jake snickered at Al. "Got someone on your mind?"

Al's mood suddenly dropped. "There was, Shadow." Al walked away and headed to the store.

Jake looked at Al then looked at Patamon. "Is there something wrong with I said?"

"Yes. He fell in love with my girlfriend and Renamon. And completely depressed after knowing my affair with Gatomon, because he thinks that Renamon is already been taken." Patamon explained to Jake.

"He is one lucky bastard." Jake commented while looking where Al went gone.

"Yes indeed, and you just made his mood down again." Patamon added.

Jake looked at Patamon in disbelief. "I did? Geez, sorry...!"

"Come on, let's find him." Patamon flew at where Al went and Jake followed him.

Al sold most of the items for bits. Al was quite happy seeing how much he got after selling useless items like weapons, armors, accessories and several loots that commonly dropped. 'That's quite a load. I can spend most them for me and Jake. I better find them.' He said in mind. By the time he closed his status bar, Jake and Patamon is approaching him. "What is all the commotion, guys?"

"Al, I'm sorry for what I said earlier." Jake tried to apologize about what he said earlier.

"It's okay, ShadowWolf. You win some, you lose some." Al tried to hide his sad voice in front of them.

"You can't fool me with that voice." Patamon stated which gave Al a small sigh. "Tell you what; I've got something that might cheer you up. You two have been invited to become our guest at welcoming party tomorrow."

"Now that really cheers us up." Al replied with happy forgetting his bad mood.

"Where is this party is going to be held?" Jake asked.

"That would be a secret. Kari will pick you two up in the morning." Patamon answered and quickly leave the game.

"So, what kind of item do you like to buy?" Al asked to Jake.

"Anything as long as it's suitable for beast type Digimon. Come on, I know a place for that kind of thing." Jake replied and walked away to a different area of the city. Al followed behind.

Al looked that the crowded bazaar area, where many stands lining up rivaling each other who can sold more item or more profitable. Jake walks in to one of the stand and started to browse some item. Al looked at the owner of the stand where Jake is browsing. There stood, or flying to be exact, a small pink Digimon with white wing and holding a spear.

Its dark emerald green eyes saw another customer looking at it and do the usual greetings to Al. "Hi there, can I interested you with something?" It asked with a high pitch male voice.

Al replied normally to him like he did to Ogremon back in the past. "Oh no, I was just waiting for my friend here to find a suitable item for him."

"In that case, don't wait. You can browse the item that you need for your hunt or quest." He suggested. Al was hesitated at first, but his curiosity got the best of him. So he browsed to see what kind of item that was available in his stand.

The store holds various kinds of weapons, armors, and accessories for every specific type of Digimon. Al being a dragon type found lots of useful weapon and armor that can increase the status a lot. Al looked all the weapons and the armors in detail and found something unpleasant. Every weapon has level limitation which meant that the equipment can be used at certain level. Al could hear the same disappointed groan from Jake as well.

"At least I can use the armor." Jake felt content at least because he can still use the armor for increasing his defense. When he looked at the price, he let out another disappointed groan. "It's way too expensive."

"What are you looking for, Jake?" Al asked in curious.

"There's an armor that I want to buy but I can afford to buy one."

"Which armor do you want?" Al browsed the store again.

"It was a Double Plate. The prize was 3700 bits and I only had 3000 bits."

"I'll buy it for you. I have 5000 bits so I can buy it for you."

"Oh no, you won't. You gave me the Novice blade when it was officially belongs to you. It's your money so you buy it for your own." Jake protested.

"I'm doing this because we are friends. But if you say so, I would like to buy a silver cloak please." Al ordered from the clerk.

The clerk gave the cloak to Al and payed the amount of price for the cloak. "Thank you, um..."

"It's Pixiemon and you're welcome." The clerk called Pixiemon replied.

"It's time for me to go back. Dinner is almost ready. Best you prepared for the party tomorrow." Al announced Jake and then logged out of the game.

Al turned off the computer and went out to the dinner table. His mother, Sarah is preparing the dinner while Soul, his Minomon, is chewing down a banana. Al greeted Soul with a happy smile. "Hey, there Soul, are you enjoying your dinner?"

Soul looked at Al with a happy face. "Yes and it was delicious."

"You know, you could wait for a couple of minutes so we could eat together like a family should."

"Like you said that he is still a baby." Sarah protested supporting Soul. "But for a baby, he is quite a fast learner. Help me to put it on the table, Al dear."

Al replied by helping his mother to put the food on the table. Both of them enjoying their dinner, since Soul is different for his family he didn't touch any food except fruits.

When the dinner was finish, Al told her mother that he was invited to a welcoming party tomorrow with the Destinies. Of course Soul was invited because he is Al's partner. Both of them preparing until they felt so sleepy and hit the hay early.

On the next early day, Al woke up in full of excitement about the upcoming party. Al wanted to get up but remembered that Soul is sleeping with him. He got up slowly so that he won't wake the little one and headed for the bathroom to take a shower. After Al did the usual in the bathroom, he went back to his room to find a suitable cloth to wear for the party. By the time he went back to his room, Soul was just wake up from his sleep.

Al saw him and greeted him. "Good morning, Soul. Do you have a good sleep?"

Soul looked at Al walking toward his drawer. "Morning, Al. You up early."

"I can't sleep very well because I was anxious about today's party." Al answered while searching a suitable cloth from the drawer. "Not all of these." Al grumbled then walked to the closet.

"What are you looking for?" Soul asked.

"I'm looking for a suit or decent cloth for me to wear at the party." Al answered while looking at the closet.

"Why don't you wear your usual cloth? It's just a party that introduced the team members." Soul commented.

"Since most of the members were adult, I think a decent cloth is in order." Al found a couple of shirts to wear but not a single one that suits him perfectly. "Guess I have to wear my jacket."

Al heard the door bell rang and spontaneously looked at the clock. "7 o'clock? That was early... I know that I will be picked up, but this is quite early." Al rushed to wear his cloth set, so he took one of the clothes put his pants, and over coated with his favorite black jacket with unique silver lining at the arm and the back side. He grabbed a belt pack and put his Terminal, Digivice game, his cards and his digital camera.

Al called Soul into his Digivice Destinies and put it into his belt pack. He heard that his mother called that someone wants to see him. Al rushed out of his room and headed to the entrance to see that Sarah is talking to Kari. Al greeted both of them. "Good morning, mom, Ms. Kari. You arrived early."

"You know what they, the earlier you start the longer it will hold." Kari answered to Al's surprise. "May I borrow him for the whole day?" Kari asked her politely.

"Okay. Enjoy the party, dear and don't come home very late." Sarah gave her the permission and bade his son farewell with a kiss at his forehead which makes Al blushed.

Al was guided to her red sedan and sat at the back seat. When he got in he saw that Takato drive the car and to his side there was Jake sleeping blindfolded. Al greeted Takato and asked about the blindfold. "It was a secret place so you might need to use one as well, consider it as a surprise." Takato answered.

"It wasn't a surprise anymore if Patamon told us there will be a welcoming party held by all of you." Al commented.

"Yes, but he didn't tell you where it will be held. So it still is a surprise." Takato stated which gave Al a non-vocabulary comment 'He is right.'

About half away from the Destinies apartment, Al was told by Takato to put on the blindfold which he comply by doing it. And just to make sure, Takato wave at his face to see that if he was completely blind. Al gave no reaction on his wave which he is completely blind and Takato continue toward their destination.

They arrive at Kari's and Takato's apartment which takes at least an hour and a half. Takato and Kari guided the blind one to their sanctuary slowly. They stop at the door which Takato open it for them to enter. Jake asked that are we arrive yet and Kari said not yet.

Takato and Kari guided them to the living room where their computers were stationed. Takato told them to wait for a moment and turn on the computer. After the computer is fully operational, Takato pull out his D-Server and called, "Digital Gate, open!"

Al didn't see what Takato just did. When he was about to asked, he felt that his body was pulled or dragged by some unknown force which gave him no time to react. The tense were seized when he didn't feel any force except a cold breezing air. Kari told them that they can remove the blindfold.

When they remove it, it took time to readjust their eyes. When the sight is fixed, they were quite surprise. In front of them stood a large Japanese style house with large backyard garden. Al was curious about the house. "Whose house is this?"

His question has been answered by a familiar voice from the entrance door. "It was my home." Al looked at the voice owner and it was Gennai.

"You live here Gennai?" Al asked with amazement. Gennai nodded in reply. "But where is 'here'?"

"This is one of secluded area in Digital World." Gennai replied which gave Al and Jake a surprise gesture. "Come on in, the other guests are eager for your arrival."
