15-Second Trailer
This just suddenly came into my head as some sort of 15-second viral video trailer.
Essentially, it's a story in three bad decisions that occurs entirely in the mind of the reader.
Be merciful to your local officers people, they are just trying to do their best in various bad situations.

"There's something I have to tell you, before you arrest me. Please, it's very important. We're in a locked room with only one exit and there's nowhere else I could possibly go."
(burst of static)
"And that's what happened. Which is why you need to arrest me now, as carefully as you can. Use both pairs of handcuffs, maybe tie my ankles together somehow. But you have to do it carefully, or you might wake it up."

"Two police officers were slain last night in a gory spree killing in small mid-western town of..."
