“Raiden?”
The green-scaled lizard was too deep in the guts of the car’s underside to see more than the dragon’s pink ankles and the blue toe claws. But it was definitely Lumi, judging by the voice.
“Oh, hey, wasn’t expecting you so early,” Raiden said, still working on tightening the individual nuts and screws.
“What’re you talking about?” Lumi laughed. “The sun’s setting!”
Nah, that couldn’t be right… the suspension wasn’t that fucked, it couldn’t have taken that long to fix it up. Though he had spent time checking the whole car, and buffing its chassis, and tuning up the engine…
“You haven’t even eaten today, have you?” Lumi asked. It was only then that Raiden noticed his stomach’s cries for help.
“Just gimme 30 more seconds,” he said. “I’ll be right out.”
Lumi scoffed.
“I swear!” Raiden said. “Just tightening this up… there!”
He put his feet on the ground and wheeled himself out from under the bottom of the winched-up Beetle. He caught a glimpse of something else that wasn’t just right, a part that wasn’t perfectly flush against the underside of the car.
“Just one last thing right here, just five minutes,” he said, reaching for a different wrench..
“No, you’re taking a break now. It can wait.”
Raiden suddenly felt a tug around his ankle, and a sudden feeling of weightlessness. The next thing Raiden knew, he was upside down, looking right into the black-and-blue eyes of his dragon friend.
The tail had wrapped all the way up his thigh (avoiding the inner region) and was currently squeezing around his midsection.
Raiden’s heart skipped a beat, surprising him. He began to flail and kick at the air reflexively, trying to wriggle free.
“Put me down!”
“Oh gosh!” Lumi’s face suddenly shifted to one of concern and realisation. They quickly set him down. “Sorry, my tail has a mind of its own, I hope that didn’t throw you off…”
As Lumi continued to apologise profusely and make excuses, Raiden only sort of half-listened.
He was trying to make sense of the melange of sensations. There’d been some fear and shock, obviously - the very idea of helplessness was an alien concept to someone as broad and built as him. But that momentary feeling that he was at someone else’s mercy…
He kept trying to figure out the taste of that feeling over the next few days.
-Hey Raiden… hope you’re okay, I’m so sorry again about last time!
-Oh yeah I’m totally fine it was just kind of a surprise! Maybe I should get you back ;)
-I mean… ????????
-good dragon. Alright whens good for you?
Raiden took a much longer shower than usual. Mostly so he could rehearse.
“So, do you want to pick me up like that again? No…
“I’d like to try it with you again. Too direct, uhm…
“If you try to pick me up, I won’t stop you? No, that might…
“Do what you want with me. That sounds needy, I’m not…
“fuck this is hard.”
He was out of the shower when he heard the knock. He quickly towelled himself off and hastily threw on shorts and a tank top before heading down to open the front door.
Lumi’s arms were crossed, and there was a curious smile on their face.
“Did you lose track of time again?” Lumi asked.
“Aha, no, I was just taking a quick shower before…”
“I’ve been waiting for like ten minutes!” Lumi laughed, and it was hard to tell if they were amused or annoyed. “I had a feeling you might get distracted with another project again… guess I was wrong.”
“Look… lemme get you some coffee. Make yourself comfortable.”
Raiden stepped aside and let Lumi in. Along with their dozen-foot long tail. Raiden tried not to stare at its natural undulations as it wafted through the air behind the dragon.
He probably would be blushing at that moment, if a cold blooded creature like him could blush.
Raiden brought a freshly prepared pot of coffee into the living room, where Lumi had made themself quite comfortable atop their soft-serve style drizzled tail.
“Thank you~!” Lumi accepted the mug and went back to lounging. Raiden sat on his couch a little distance away.
If Lumi was annoyed, they didn’t show it anymore. Raiden and Lumi cycled through idle small talk.
Lumi was dealing with some stressful stuff with work, and their tail was so thick and shifted so subtly. Raiden had finally finished up with that buggy and had a good payout, and couldn’t stop thinking about Lumi’s tail. Lumi was going on a date later that week, and Raiden wanted to climb inside Lumi’s coils. Raiden had picked up a DVD box set from a thrift shop and was going to go through it this weekend - not watching it at all, but thinking about Lumi’s coils.
“-this is nice coffee, by the way!” Lumi said cheerily.
“I wanna get wrapped up again,” Raiden blurted out.
The room became deathly silent. Lumi stared at Raiden with wide-eyed, small-pupilled shock.
“You, uh- sorry, what?”They were mid-sip, and gave one last soft slurp before lowering the mug from their lips.
Raiden sighed. There was no way in hell he was going to be able to walk that one back.
“I don’t… think I need to repeat myself. Sorry, I’ll drop it.”
“No, no.” Lumi very decisively reached down and put their mug on the floor next to their tail. “Let’s not. Lemme lift you instead~”
Raiden bit on his lip, huffing through his nostrils as he watched the big-tailed twink stand up. Their tail unfurled behind them, as if beckoning to him. Raiden felt his own tail sort of quiver and wag. Every part of him wanted this.
“Sure,” he said. “Where should I…?”
